Tell your family’s story
Here is your opportunity to publicly honor your family or loved one and tell their story.
You could display your cherished, family portrait in the library’s “Heritage Gallery of Family Portraits” in the Reading Room on the first floor. For a nominal fee of $50, your portrait could be included in the exhibit.
The library is accepting framed, portraits that date 1850-1950. The portrait could be of a family group or an individual with a connection to Vandergrift or the surrounding communities. The story of the people in your portrait could be written by you or with assistance from the library director. The family stories will be kept in special binder on display for visitors to read.
Guidelines for submission of your portrait:

Identify the portrait you’d like included

Frame it

Add an engraved nameplate identifying the people in the portrait

Write or tell the story you would like included
For the fee of $50, you will receive a receipt for a tax deduction, full assurance that your portrait will be maintained and the satisfaction of knowing that many people will be able to view your loved ones and read the stories they represent.
